we always have a choice.

A sentence that changed my life’s direction was ‘you don’t have a choice ‘.


I was working at  an office for past few months and I had lot of expectations about that place in terms of great work and lot of learning .

Few months went well but I was never paid as promised and my boss wanted me to shift to another new office of his which didn’t have much work and that was the only thing I was looking forward to when I took this job.


Anyway, I was cribbing and carrying on with half day in old place and every afternoon very unhappily I used to go to that new office where I was just sitting and doing nothing.

I had two children who were 4 and 7 yrs old and they reach home from school by 2 pm and I used to wonder why was I not going home and spend time with my children rather than going to that new office which didn’t have any purpose.

Sometimes, God sends people to wake us up .

That’s exactly what happened to me on May 2nd 2007 .

I was cribbing about leaving after lunch to the new office and one of my seniors who is very non empathetic and famous for her rudeness said to me ‘ you have no choice ‘ you will have to go and work wherever boss asks you to go and that changed my life .

I picked up my bag and went directly  to my boss and said goodbye to his job .

The very next day May 3rd is my birthday and I celebrated with my family and in a couple of years I opened my own office and I am doing pretty well .

I always tell my children never to say ‘ I have no choice so I have to do this thing I don’t like doing’.

We always have a choice but it takes courage and sometimes the path might be hard but it is worth taking that path rather than silencing your inner voice .

Friendship with myself in solitude

I got married while I was still in college and since then always have been with my family. I am eternally grateful that I am loved by my family always . I have always wanted more from my husband in terms of time and attention. It used to make me sad if he is away and I looked forward for his return always . This seems very normal and rather good for most of us . Since past 6 years, my husband is working in a different city and I would meet him on the weekends. Initial days were very tough as I am always wanting his presence. I cried , fought and resented and blamed everyone and everything. Suddenly stillness came into my life and the noise settled down. Stories we tell ourselves

 ‘What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we have’ Oprah Winfrey. The learning which has changed a lot for me from inside is the realisation to see the truth as it is. It seems very simple but it is complex. Seeing truth as it is requires immense courage, no ego, non-judgemental,detachment from our own opinions and above all accepting that we are wrong many times. I am still a work in progress in this but have come a long way from where I was earlier. My seeds for this thought process started with this beautiful book by Eckhart Tolle called ‘The New Earth’ where he talks so deeply about Ego and I realised all the thinking in my head is most of the times my Ego telling me stories and not the real truth.
